Entrevistamos a Marcus Schossow

Después de un largo parón el sueco está de vuelta 

WS: Marcus Schossow ha vuelto tras varios meses fuera de la escena. ¿Cómo ha sido este periodo de tiempo? ¿Pensabas cada día en tu vuelta o has preferido desconectar?

Marcus:  Me he estado tomando un tiempo de descanso para re-organizar y alejarme un poco de forma que puedo descubrir que camino quiero tomar para todo esto. Sinceramente, no lo veo como un regreso, sino como un pequeño descanso. Un descanso que no he tenido en los últimos 10 años :)

WS: Marcus Schossow is back after a few months out of the scene. What did you do? Did you think about your comeback every day or did you just wind down? 

Marcus: I’ve been taking time off to re-organize and to get some distance to it so I could find out what way I wanna go with the whole thing. Honestly, I don't see it as a comeback, more like a little break. A break I haven't had for over 10 years :)

WS: En España somos muchos los que tenemos muchas ganas de verte en directo. ¿Te veremos pronto por aquí?

Marcus: ¡Eso espero! Nunca he actuado en territorio español y he oído cosas buenas de él. ¡Creo que ya va siendo hora de hacer un show ahí!

WS: There's a lot of people who is looking forward to see you live here in Spain. Will we see you in a near future? 

Marcus: I hope so! I’ve never played the mainland of Spain and I’ve heard great stuff about it. I guess it’s time for me to do a show there!

WS: ¿Cómo gestionas Code Red, como es el día a dia? ¿Eliges personalmente todos los hits que salen en el sello?

Marcus: Yo escojo de primera mano todas las canciones con mi equipo. Es un ambiente creativo muy bueno y somos un ajustado grupo de gente que prospera para que nuestros fans reciban la máxima calidad.

WS: How is to manage Code Red day by day? Do you choose personally every hit that is released in the label? 

Marcus: I handpick all the songs together with my team. It's a great creative environment and we are a tight group of people that thrive for the highest possible quality for our fans.

WS: ¿Cómo fue el momento en el que decidiste crear tu propio sello? Cada vez más artistas lo hacen, ¿crees que en parte es para poder producir de una manera más propia y personal?

Marcus:  Creé mi propio sello para ser libre de toda la mierda de ahí fuera. No me interesan las políticas alrededor de mi música y creo que muchos de los sellos se aprovechan de los artistas ahí fuera. Creamos y estamos creando algunas de las perspectivas de talento musical más emocionantes de por ahí, y por eso me siento orgulloso del 100% de transparencia y de nuestro trabajo en equipo.

WS: Why did you decide to create your own label? It's a trend that's getting bigger and bigger. Do you think that it is, in part, to make music in a more personal way? 

Marcus: I created my own label to be free of all the bullshit out there. I'm not interested in any politics around my music and I think a lot of labels use the artist out there. We built and are building some of the most exciting music talent prospects out there, and there for I take pride in 100% transparency and our team work.

WS: ¿Que tal ha sido trabajar con Corey James en tu nuevo EP? En nuestra opinión el resultado es fantástico... ¿Que tal ha sido el recibimiento del público?

Marcus: ¡Gracias! ¡Sí, la respuesta ha sido genial! Me alegra que la gente entienda la buena música. Este EP tiene un sonido algo más maduro y creo que la gente por fin entiende la importancia de la calidad. Trabajar con Corey ha sido fabuloso, nos llevamos muy bien y ambos tenemos ideas muy rompedoras.

WS: How it was to work alongside with Corey James in your brand new EP? We think it is pretty cool! Did people like it? 

Marcus: Thanks! Yes, response been great! I'm happy people understand good music. This EP is something of a more mature sound and I think people finally understand the importance of quality. Working with Corey was flawless, we get along really well together and we both have some great groundbreaking ideas.

WS: ¿Que podemos esperar de Schossow en 2018? ¿Algo que nos puedas adelantar?

Marcus: Mucha nueva música....lo demás es un secreto ;)

WS: What can we expect from Schossow in 2018? Is there something that you could tell us? 

Marcus: A lot of new music.... The rest is a secret ;)

WS: ¿Que opinas de la situación actual del Progressive House? ¿Algún joven talento al que debamos seguir la pista?

Marcus: El progressive house... ¿Describe el sonido festivalero o el sonido oscuro y profundo? Para mí personalmente es el oscuro y profundo... ¡Y creo que está creciendo! Estoy cansado de toda la mierda del EDM, no me aporta nada. ¡Quiero una aventura! Hemos firmado un puñado de chicos increíbles que anunciaremos pronto ;)

WS: What do you think about the current Progressive House situation? Do you know any young talent we could check? 

Marcus: Progressive house... Does this describe the arena sound or the dark and deep sound? For me personally it's the deep and dark sound... And I think it's growing! I'm tired of all the EDM bullshit, doesn't give any substance. I want a journey! We signed a bunch of amazing kids out there that we will reveal soon ;)

WS: ¿Que opinión te merece la lista del Top 100 de la DJ MAG?

Marcus: No sé, para ser honesto no me importa una mierda. Todo se ha convertido en Disneyland y perdió toda la credibilidad hace años.

What do you think about DJ Mag's Top 100? 

I don't know, I couldn't give less a fuck to be honest. It's all gone Disneyland and lost all of its credibility years ago.
